Today on theAbysmal Calendar (Feb 26 2024) marks day 1~XV (Goshawk) on the 260-Day Calendar. This Calendar organizes the days by measures of 13 as denoted by the number, as well as 20 glyphs indicated by the Roman numeral.

The image above indicates the 13 glyphs for this period: Goshawk, Fisher, Earthquake, Mirror, Storm, Muskrat, Turtle, Wind, Night, Web, Serpent, Death, Deer.
Traditionally among the Maya, Zapotec, Mexica, and other Mesoamerican Peoples, there are celebrations, observances, and rituals to accompany these various times. As theAbysmal Calendar continues to develop in the Eastern Woodlands of North America, one hopes that these days suggest appropriate celebrations in kind.
In many Mesoamerican systems, the 15th glyph is Eagle. The Eagle is a powerful creature to the Indigenous Peoples of the Eastern Woodlands as well, so it might be a more suitable animal for this glyph. While the numbers provide a common framework, the glyphs can vary from community-to-community. Unfortunately, the imperial eagle of Rome, Holy Roman Empire, Russia, & the USA is a symbol with which I’m far more familiar, and don’t wish to perpetuate in theAbysmal system.
Goshawk, short for goose hawk, don’t hunt geese. Goshawk is paired with tomorrow’s glyph, XVI (fisher). Fishers don’t fish, and Goshawk don’t hunt geese. This seems like an unlikely pairing, yet every time these days come around, something else about their relationship presents itself.
More feasting and dancing, beloveds.
